International team

Carlos started in company as the International Sales Director in September 2015. 

He holds a doctorate degree in Biology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. When he finished his training period, he spent some time teaching before moving into the field of in vitro diagnostics, where he has been developing his career for over 25 years. 

Over this period of time, Carlos held the positions of Microbiology Product Manager, and Microbiology and Immunology Business Unit Manager at Diagnostic Grifols. Following this, he served as the Marketing Director of the Diagnostic Division at Grifols International. Later he would move on to work for Cerus Inc as the Director for Latin America, leading the introduction of the company’s products into this region. 

During his career, Carlos has always worked in an international environment and developed various commercial and marketing assignments. Among other responsibilities, this included overseeing product launches, the planning and managing of marketing plans and sales, selecting suppliers and distributors, and product development.

In 2002 Laura joined  Vircell with the purpose of creating the Marketing Department. From the beginning, she carried out market research, organizational communication, internal marketing and developed the company image (corporative identity).

She holds a BSc in Administration and Management, as well as Research and Marketing Techniques from the University of Granada. Laura has previous professional experience in Consulting Services, and Communication and Advertising agencies. Moreover, she has trainings in graphic design, web design and photography.

Before working at Vircell, she had the opportunity to acquire international experience abroad in the USA and Holland.

Marina joined the company in August 2021 to strengthen the Marketing Departmen. At Vircell, she mainly carries out Marketing Intelligence tasks, supporting portfolio management with market research, bibliographic support and campaign designs, among other functions.

Marina has a BSc  in Biotechnology from the Miguel Hernández University and a MSc in Pharmacological Research from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She began her professional experience working as a Junior Product Manager at Mettler-Toledo company in Zurich (Switzerland). Likewise, she carried out scientific stays at the Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Center in Madrid and at the Institute of Neurosciences in Alicante.

María Daniela Aguilera has a degree in Biology from the University of Granada and she joined the team after completing her university internship in our company. She has knowledge of Python programming and has completed her training with several volunteering and international exchange programs. 

María Daniela Aguilera joined Vircell as Junior Product Manager in September 2022, highlighting her work in the management of fairs and congresses.

Joaquín Ortiz joined Vircell in april 2019 as a Scientific advisor in the Marketing department

Joaquin Ortiz obtained the Bachelor in Pharmacy by the Barcelona University, with a specialization in Clinical Laboratory and Clinical Microbiology. Following an initial period as manager in a Pharma office, Joaquin has developed his professional career in the In Vitro Diagnostics field for more than 30 years.

During all this time, Joaquin occupied different positions as Product Specialist in Clinical Lab and Product Manager of Bacteriology in the Spanish affiliate of Organon Teknika. Next to this, he worked as Product Manager, Group Product Manager and Marketing Manager in Biokit SA, always involved in the field of In Vitro Diagnostics for Infectious diseases.

During all his career Joaquin has always worked in an international environment. Joaquin has developed several functions as a trainer, Support activities and scientific advisor for the product specialists and End Users.

Joaquín has a large knowledge in infectious diseases as well as a large experience as a professor in training courses, seminars and webinars, Workshops and Oral sessions in different Scientific Congresses.

Ana Belén Vicente joined Vircell in October 2021 in the Scientific Marketing Department as Scientific Advisor. Ana Belén Vicente holds a PhD in Biology with European mention from the Complutense University of Madrid.

After obtaining her PhD, her professional career has always been developed in in vitro diagnostics in the marketing and sales departments of the companies Vitro S.A and Synlab Diágnosticos Globales.  In these companies, she has held different positions as applications specialist, product manager and international business development manager with a portfolio of products associated with Anatomic Pathology, Hematology, Genetics and Microbiology.

Likewise, in the performance of the different positions she has carried out internal and end-customer training tasks, technical and commercial support, preparation of fairs and congresses as well as scientific and commercial seminars

Eva joined us in January 2011 to help develop Vircell international business and consolidate our presence in Europe and Asia-Pacific. During her first years with Vircell, she was responsible of Vircell Customer Service as well, which allowed her to gain ample product expertise and a better understanding of our customers’ needs.

Before joining Vircell, Eva worked in the purchasing, international logistics and export departments of various companies and served as international trade consultant for the business promotion office of the regional government of Andalusia in London.

She completed her university education in languages with a specialty in the legal and commercial fields at the University of Granada and the Haute-École Léonard De Vinci in Brussels. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in International Trade and an Executive MBA.

Eva has lived and worked in Spain, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

Antonio joined VIRCELL in January 2008, to strengthen our presence in Middle East and part of Europe.

Mr. Serrano holds a degree in Economics at the University of Granada; he has previous international experience in different sectors (consultancy, agri-food and consumer goods industries) specialized in foreign trade operations.

Previous to Vircell, Antonio lived and worked in Spain, United Kingdom (Erasmus), Venezuela (ICEX) and Portugal. 

B.Sc. in Economics and Master in International Management, David Romero joined Vircell in 2012, after working for the Economic Office of the Embassy of Spain in Serbia.

He has experience in various sectors and has developed his activity in the Marketing and Sales departments of several multinationals; currently, is one of our International Area Managers, responsible for the markets in America and Asia Pacific Area.

David is an avid traveller, which has visited more than 35 countries and has lived in different cities such as Edinburgh, Belgrade or Madrid.

Graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Granada and holding a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Padua, Italy, Paola has built a professional career of over 10 years in Italy, holding key roles in leading companies in the sector.

Her work experience includes a period at AB Analitica, where she actively contributed to the development of molecular products in the R&D area. Later, she joined ElitechGroup, starting as a Product Specialist and advancing to commercial roles such as Export Sales Area Manager, with a special focus on Latin America.

With more than 4 years specializing in international sales, she has excelled in the global marketing of molecular diagnostic products and services. Her track record includes generating new sales opportunities and expanding business in emerging markets.

Joan joined Vircell's International Sales team in January 2023, in order to manage the commercial area related to the Company's Molecular Biology diagnostics product portfolio. He has extensive commercial experience in the sector, having previously provided services for companies such as Werfen, ITW Reagents or GENOMICA.

Joan has a Degree in Business and Administration & MBA from ESADE and has completed several Masters and postgraduate courses related to the commercial area.

Magda joined Vircell in June 2016 to provide support and assistance to the International Sales and Marketing Department. Her main responsibility, among others, is to ensure that our customers have the necessary documents and information for the registration processes of our products to market them.

Magda has a qualification in Administrative Accounting and in Congress and Exhibition Hostess. She gained an English proficiency diploma from the University of Granada’s Modern Languages Centre.  Due to her language skills, she was selected for a scholarship to study and work in Essen, Germany, under the Leonardo Da Vinci’s European Union Project, where she obtained a qualification in production techniques.

Previously, she worked as Product Manager and Sales Advisor in the international sales department of a global company, organising and attending international trade fairs. She also has a wide experience working as an executive assistant.

She has traveled extensively throughout the world and spent some time living in Scotland.

Aida joined Vircell in February 2022 as International Sales Assistant to reinforce a growing Sales Department, providing administrative support, in addition to Social Media and online marketing management.

She has a degree in Business and Administration and a Master in Marketing and Sales Management by ESIC Business & Marketing School. She completed her university studies education by mastering languages and Marketing instruction. 

Before working for Vircell, Aida worked in the education and distribution sector, performing online marketing tasks.

Rafael has a Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Granada and a Master in Medical Science Liaison by the University of Madrid. Rafael joined the Application Specialists team at Vircell in June 2016 to carry out training programs and provide technical and applications support.

Before working at Vircell, Rafael worked at DOMCA, where he took part in different R & D projects. After that, he was working in the UK as supervisor in pathogens laboratory at Eurofins Scientific Group.

Currently, he is now the Technical Support Manager coordinating Vircell technical department.

Luisa has a Degree in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Malaga with a Master's degree from the University of Granada. She has extensive experience in customer service in the tourism sector. Before working at Vircell, Luisa has lived and studied for 6 months in Denmark.

Luisa works in the Customer Service Department as a link between the Technical Department and our clients. Her role is to provide the necessary information in each case and to give the fastest possible solution to the customers' demands. The specific follow-up she carries out on each incident ensures that we can provide a timely response in each case. In addition, Luisa personally attends to the requests for information and registration that we receive daily through our website.

Julián began his career in 2013 at Vircell as a Nanotechnology Research Specialist in the R&D Department, actively collaborating in product development.  In February 2019, he became part of the applications specialist team where he develops technical support functions and specialized attention to our international clients and distributors.

Julian is a PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Granada and is the author of a good amount of articles and publications in specialized magazines and books, as well as co-author of several patents. Prior to his joining at Vircell, Julian had carried out predoctoral stays at the Universities of Utrecht and Maribor, as well as an assistant professor at the University of Jaén and a researcher at the San Cecilio University Hospital in Granada.

Nelson Camilo Lopez joined Vircell's SAT team in November 2021 to provide instrumentation and application services in the LATAM area. He is physically based in Bogota.

Camilo had previous experience as an instrumentation technician at ANNAR Diagnostica Colombia. He is a Biomedical Engineer from Manuela Beltran University in Bogota.

Aaron joined Vircell in December 2018 as an Instrumentation Technician performing corrective and preventive maintenance of VirClia instruments as well as their corresponding Quality Controls. In January 2022, he became part of the SAT team in which he develops technical support functions and specializes in International Customer Care.

Aaron has ample knowledge of electronics, automation and industrial robotics. He has several degrees and experience in the industrial and automation sector.

Daniel has a degree in Biology from the University of Granada, with a Master Degree in Biotechnology from the University of Wageningen (Netherlands), where he lived for two years.  

Daniel started his professional career in the research sector in Oxford (UK) where he spent four years and participated in several publications. This allowed him to broaden his knowledge of molecular laboratory and diagnostic techniques.

Daniel joined Vircell's team as Applications Specialiss in March 2023 to provide technical support, as well as delivering training programs.

Lucía Cañete de Pinedo joins the SAT Vircell team in May 2023 to provide technical and application support, in addition to deliver training programs.

She has a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Granada and a Master's degree in Pharmacological Sciences from the University of Copenhagen, where she spent two years living and where she specialized in the development of antimicrobial peptides against multidrug-resistant bacteria

Pedro has a degree in Biology and MSc in Genetics and Evolution from the University of Granada, and a MSc in Marine Biology from the University of La Laguna (Tenerife).

After some years working abroad as Scuba diving instructor and Nature guide, he started his profesional career in research in different places of Madrid, like Ramón y Cajal Hospital and the National Center of Biotechnology.

Pedro joined Vircell’s team as Application Specialist in November 2023 to provide technical support, as well as delivering training programs.
