ESM 2012, Brasov, Romania

Vircell participates in the annual congress of the European Society of Mycobacteriology

During the first week of July 2012, the 33rd Annual Congress of the European Society of Mycobacteriology (ESM) was held in Brasov, Romania. Vircell participated with a booth in the exhibition to introduce the two improved references for identification of mycobacteria in culture and direct samples (Speed-oligo® Mycobacteria and Speed-oligo® Direct Mycobacterium Tuberculosis) as well as the AmpliRun® PCR Controls product line.

The most prestigious international specialists gathered at this event to share and discuss their experiences and to disseminate its scientific achievements in the field of mycobacteriology and related diseases. As in previous meetings, the conference's scientific program covered a wide range of topics ranging issues such as the incidence, diagnosis, treatment and control of tuberculosis (TB) in certain countries or regions; the genome analysis of mycobacteria; the new diagnostics, drugs and quality control; and epidemiology and clinical significance of MOTT- mycobacteria other than tuberculosis.

During this event, we also had the excellent opportunity to meet with our distributor in Romania, Top Diagnostics, to review sales figures and business targets.

We were pleased that Vircell’s Speed-oligo® Direct Mycobacterium Tuberculosis was presented on the poster Multi-centre evaluation of the Speed-oligo Mycobacteria assay for differentiation of Mycobacterium spp. in clinical isolates” by Dr. Hofmann-Thiel et al. This work was received with great interest among the attendees.

Vircell thanks all attendees for their visit to our booth. It has been a great pleasure and privilege for us to meet such a renowned network of professionals from the field.

We look forward to seeing you all again at the next edition in Florence.
