International team

Carlos joined the company as the International Sales Director in September 2015. 

He holds a doctorate degree in Biology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. When he finished his training period, he spent some time teaching before moving into the field of in vitro diagnostics, where he has been developing his career for over 25 years. 

Over this period of time, Carlos held the positions of Microbiology Product Manager, and Microbiology and Immunology Business Unit Manager at Diagnostic Grifols. Following this, he served as the Marketing Director of the Diagnostic Division at Grifols International. Later he would move on to work for Cerus Inc as the Director for Latin America, leading the introduction of the company’s products into this region. 

During his career, Carlos has always worked in an international environment and developed various commercial and marketing assignments. Among other responsibilities, this included overseeing product launches, the planning and managing of marketing plans and sales, selecting suppliers and distributors, and product development.

In 2002 Laura joined the company to create the Marketing Department and support the Sales Team. From the beginning, she carried out market research, organizational communication, internal marketing and developed the company image (corporative identity).

She holds Degrees in Administration and Management, as well as Research and Marketing Techniques from the University of Granada. Laura has previous professional experience in Consulting Services, and Communication and Advertising agencies. Moreover, she has training in graphic design, web design and photography.

Before working at Vircell, she had the opportunity to acquire experience abroad in the USA and Holland.

Joaquín Ortiz joined Vircell in April 2019 as Scientific advisor in the Marketing department

Joaquin Ortiz obtained the Bachelor in Pharmacy by the Barcelona University, with a specialization in Clinical Laboratory and Clinical Microbiology. Following an initial period as manager in a Pharma office, Joaquin has developed his professional career in the In Vitro Diagnostics field for more than 30 years.

During all this time, Joaquin occupied different positions as Product Specialist in Clinical Lab and Product Manager of Bacteriology in the Spanish affiliate of Organon Teknika. Next to this, he worked as Product Manager, Group Product Manager and Marketing Manager in Biokit SA, always involved in the field of In Vitro Diagnostics for Infectious diseases.

During all his career Joaquin has always worked in an international environment. Joaquin has developed several functions as a trainer, Support activities and scientific advisor for the product specialists and End Users.

Joaquín has a large knowledge in infectious diseases as well as a large experience as a professor in training courses, seminars and webinars, Workshops and Oral sessions in different Scientific Congresses.

Antonio joined VIRCELL in January 2008, to strengthen our presence in Middle East and part of Europe.

Mr. Serrano holds a degree in Economics at the University of Granada; he has previous international experience in different sectors (consultancy, agri-food and consumer goods industries) specialized in foreign trade operations.

Previous to Vircell, Antonio lived and worked in Spain, United Kingdom (Erasmus), Venezuela (ICEX) and Portugal. 

Eva joined Vircell in January 2011, to support the Sales Department and consolidate our presence in Asia.

After receiving her Degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Granada, she did a postgraduate course in International Commerce at ESIC, Business & Marketing School, Seville. She has previous experience in international automotive companies and has worked for Extenda’s Business Promotion Office in London. 

Before joining Vircell, Eva lived and worked in Spain, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

B.Sc. in Economics and Master in International Management, David Romero joined Vircell in 2012, after working for the Economic Office of the Embassy of Spain in Serbia.

He has experience in various sectors and has developed his activity in the Marketing and Sales departments of several multinationals; currently, is one of our International Area Managers, responsible for the markets in America and Asia Pacific Area.

David is an avid traveller, which has visited more than 35 countries and has lived in different cities such as Edinburgh, Belgrade or Madrid.

Magda joined Vircell in June 2016 to provide support and assistance to the International Sales and Marketing Department. Her main responsibility, among others, is to ensure that our customers have the necessary documents and information for the registration processes of our products to market them.

Magda has a qualification in Administrative Accounting and in Congress and Exhibition Hostess. She gained an English proficiency diploma from the University of Granada’s Modern Languages Centre.  Due to her language skills, she was selected for a scholarship to study and work in Essen, Germany, under the Leonardo Da Vinci’s European Union Project, where she obtained a qualification in production techniques.

Previously, she worked as Product Manager and Sales Advisor in the international sales department of a global company, organising and attending international trade fairs. She also has a wide experience working as an executive assistant.

She has traveled extensively throughout the world and spent some time living in Scotland.

Enrique joined Vircell’s S.L. Department of Instrumentation in June 2016 and is primarily responsible for the technical support of instruments installed outside the national territory.

Enrique has a long professional career in the electromedicine sector and, more specifically, in the maintenance of diagnostic instruments, having previously provided services to companies such as Boehringer-Ingelheim Spain, Baxter and Alere Healthcare. He has the title of Specialist Technician in Electricity and Electronics and also studied computer engineering. He is a University Expert in Electromedicine from the National Technological University of Buenos Aires.

Rafael began working at Vircell in March 2016 to strengthen the team of Application Specialists, providing technical support and conducting training programs for our distribution network.

Rafael holds a degree in Biology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, as well as a Masters of Applied Microbiology.

Before working at Vircell, he gained experience in the clinical microbiology laboratory at the University Hospital of Bellvitge, where he carried out his final project for his master's degree. He has also lived and worked in Italy and the UK.

Rafael has a Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Granada. Rafael joined to the Application Specialists team at Vircell in June 2016 to carry out training programs and provide technical and applications support.

Before working at Vircell, Rafael was an intern at DOMCA, where he took part in different R & D projects. After that, he was working in UK as supervisor in pathogens laboratory at Eurofins Scientific Group.

Julián began his career in 2013 at Vircell as a Nanotechnology Research Specialist in the R&D Department, actively collaborating in product development.  In February 2019, he became part of the applications specialist team where he develops technical support functions and specialized attention to our international clients and distributors.

Julian is a PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Granada and is the author of a good amount of articles and publications in specialized magazines and books, as well as co-author of several patents. Prior to his joining at Vircell, Julian had carried out predoctoral stays at the Universities of Utrecht and Maribor, as well as an assistant professor at the University of Jaén and a researcher at the San Cecilio University Hospital in Granada.

Francisco joined Vircell as an international application specialist in October 2019 after several pre and postdoctoral research stays in the Department of physics and chemistry at the University of Granada, in Medina Foundation and in the University of Southampton (Cancer research UK). Also, Francisco has previously worked as a Scientist dedicated to the production of proteins in the Peptomyc Company.

Francisco is a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Granada with the work ˝ Identification of Inhibitors for the interaction between viral L domains and their cellular targets of interest as broad-spectrum antivirals”.  He obtained the title of Master's Degree in Molecular Biology applied to biotechnology companies (UGR BIOENTERPRISE). He also received the Predoctoral Excellence Award from the Junta de Andalucía in 2012.

Luisa joined Vircell in April 2016. She graduated with a Degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Málaga and she later obtained a Master at the University of Granada. Before working at Vircell, Luisa provided customer service while working in the tourism sector. She has previously lived and studied in Denmark during 6 months. Luisa joins Vircell in order to assist the Customer Service Department. She will be the communication nexus between the corresponding Departments of Vircell and our customers, providing information and solutions as fast as possible to all their necessities. In addition, she will follow up each inquiry or complaint specifically until the customers are satisfied. On the other hand, she will support the Marketing & Sales Department, assisting personally all the information requests and the registration requests that we receive through our web page.
