No. even though the RT-PCR kits are shipped at Room Temperature, it is recommended to store them at 2-8°C till the moment of use. Once it is opened, review the insert carefully to check the appropriate temperature for storing each component.
Depending on the RT-PCR kit, samples can be slightly different. Currently RT-PCR kits have been validated with different kind of samples such as: Oro/naso pharyngeal swab samples, tracheal aspirates, bronchoalveolar lavage, saliva, sputum, etc.
It is recommended to carefully read the product insert where detail information is provided.

The -LPD format is one of the RT-PCR kit presentations offered by Vircell to suit the needs of its customers. -LPD stands for "low profile" divisible plate. All kits with this format contain a white 96-well PCR plate of 0.1ml volume. This plate can be separated into strips of 8 wells each depending on the number of samples to be used. Unused strips can be stored according to the instructions indicated in the product data sheet until the next use or until the expiry date indicated on the kit.

DIRECT SARS-COV-2 REALTIME PCR KIT (Ref: RTPCR002) detect E and N genes. Both of them are conserved genes in the coronavirus family. Till date, it has not been reported that any mutations leading to the emerge of the different variants had any effect in the performance of this kit. This kit is a valid diagnostic tool for detection of SARS-CoV-2.
Likewise, for the preliminary identification of different variants, appeared during the pandemic, Vircell has developed specific product for each of them or a combination of different variants in just one kit.
