Vircell at the Latin American Congress of Parasitology

Colombia, 27th Sept – 1st Oct, 2011

Tropical and parasitic diseases are a major public health concern in Colombia. They primarily affect the most vulnerable sectors of the population due to the environmental and socioeconomic conditions in which they live, contributing to deteriorate even more their already precarious living standards. Colombia has a long tradition of basic research on the etiologic agents responsible for tropical diseases and their vectors, as well as on epidemiological and applied research to lessen the impact that these diseases have on populations exposed to them.

The Latin American Federation of Parasitology (FLAP) and the Colombian Association of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine (ACPMT) conducted at University of the Andes the XX Congress FLAP and XV Congress ACPMT. Both events were held together in Bogota from 27th September – 1st October, 2011.

A considerable number of national and international speakers of renowned scientific prestige attended these conferences, bringing a unique opportunity to disseminate the current knowledge on tropical diseases in Colombia and worldwide. It also provided health professionals and experts with the opportunity to update their knowledge and discuss results on their research work.

Our exclusive distributor in Colombia, ANNAR DIAGNOSTICA IMPORT S.A.S, participated at this event as an exhibitor showcasing the different products and techniques offered by Vircell for the diagnosis of these diseases. We do thank them for their invaluable support and collaboration in introducing our products among the scientific community and other related professionals of the country.
